The 200 million Metric Tons of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will be for the consumption and generation of electricity for the country and the southern African region, from the Beluluane Thermal Power Plant (CTB).
The Liquefied Natural Gas that will be supplied by the French oil company Total, will come from different parts of the world, and will be discharged at the Port of Matola in a floating storage and regalification unit.
From the port of Matola a pipeline (costing about $ 350 million) will be built to the new 2000 Megawatt power plant located in the beluluane industrial park and through the Matola Gas infrastructure. Company (MGC), will be distributed to the Southern African market.
The total cost of the 2000 Megawatt power plant, which will be built in phases in line with growing energy market needs, will be around $ 2.8 billion, and the first phase will start with 500 Megawatts by mid-2022.
