Solid Waste Collection

The village of Ressano Garcia didn't have a method for solid waste collection, and it was visible by the accumulation of waste near homes, as well as in the common spaces. Informal landfills were common along the village.

Gigawatt sought to change this mentality by creating the project "The Cleanest Village of Mozambique" and applied it to Ressano Garcia. With this, the company provided the drums used to deposit household waste, as well as the tractor and trailer to collect and deposit it in the landfill of the village (chosen in partnership with the administrative post).

The improvement in the village was significant, and although there is still some struggle on the change of mentality, and to keep the roads clean, there are no large solid waste dumps, making the environment more pleasant.
